I've tried lots of different stamping polishes over the last few years, the good, the bad and the ugly, so believe me when I say Born Pretty stamping polishes are absolutely awesome! These highly pigmented polishes come in a generous 15ml bottle, which if you're a regular stamper like me, makes these stamping polishes well worth the money.
When I first ordered these polishes with the view to sell them in our UK online nail art store, I had it clear in my mind exactly what it was that I expected from them. I wanted a polish that left a crisp, clear image every time, a polish that was true to the colour in the bottle when stamped and they definitely had to stamp over black.
I'm not overly effected by smells, and I've been the owner of some rather pungent stamping polishes, but as a distributor I was aware that there were stampers out there that had stopped using their particular brands for this very reason. So I did take this into consideration when road testing these beauties. And I'm happy to report that these are definitely a low odour stamping polish.
THE PURPLES
Left to right: Lilac, Fuschia and Purple
These stamped effortlessly and as you can see, they leave a beautiful crisp image, even over black. The only colour change was Fuschia; over white it is definitely a more pink/purple shade, where as over black it turns more purple. I love these three shades, each colour has its own individuality, so much so that I couldn't pick one over the other. And besides you can never have enough polishes!
THE PINKS
Left to right: Light Pink and Rich Pink
Rich Pink has a slightly thicker consistency than Light Pink, but that didn't effect the end result as you can see from the picture above. Light Pink becomes more of a cooler shade of pink over black and Rich Pink stays true to colour whatever colour it's stamped over. Both are creme shades and definitely worth having in your kit. I've seen Rich Pink contrast well with a light warm shade of pink as a base and Light Pink looks bold and bright over a vivid pink or fuschia base.
THE BLUES
From left to right: Blue and Light Blue
Blue is a stunning colbalt blue and it really pops over black. I had seen a swatch of this colour before and was amazed at the pigmentation and how true the colour stays. Light blue is a gorgeous baby blue and stamps well over several different shades. I'm pretty partial to the colour blue on my nails owing to the fact that my own skin tone is cool, but I think you'll agree that these two stamp beautifully.
RED & PINK
Left to right: Red and Bright Pink
It's notoriously hard to find a red that stamps well over black. Our recent YouTube swatch review shows Red over black and white, and whilst it stamps effortlessly over white, over black it turns more of a maroon shade. Over white you can expect a bright fire engine red that doesn't disappoint, so this definitely makes it worthy of having in your collection. Bright Pink is definitely more translucent and has a thinner viscosity than the other polishes. It doesn't perform well over black at all and I'll admit I was initially disappointed with this colour. Whilst it leaves a crisp image over the pastel lilac base I chose for this swatch, for me the colour intensity just doesn't match the bottle. However, it is still a nice shade of pink and contrasts well with other colours as shown above.
THE GREENS
Left to right: Teal and Green
These two colours are absolutely out of this world. The viscosity and colour intensity of these shades, in my opinion, goes above and beyond. I don't think there's much more to say on these two colours as the picture above does all the talking for me!
GOLD AND SILVER
Left to right: Gold and Silver
Gold is a bright yellow gold that doesn't pull any punches, whilst Silver leaves a bold statement behind. Both of these colours are shimmer/metallic shades and they really do stamp with ease. They have a more thicker viscosity than the creme shades already shown, but they are definitely another must have purchase.
I didn't get the chance to swatch Black and White for the blog today unfortunately, so I'll link you to our website to see swatches of these two shades courtesy of Born Pretty and the credited artists. I've tried lots of different black and white stamping polishes so I was really pleased to find that Born Pretty had surpassed themselves with the viscosity, colour intensity and quality of these two stamping polishes. It's important to have a good quality black and white stamping polish in your kit and I can assure you that you will not be disappointed with Born Pretty's efforts! I would recommend that you use them sparingly on the plate for great even coverage when scraping and allow the white to remain just a little longer on the stamper head before you stamp down on to the nail. These two definitely stamp well consistently and can be used with lots of different stampers and plates.
